One month on from the outbreak of the second world war, the Ministry of Agriculture launched the 'Dig for Victory' campaign. From this point on, folk on the 'home front' were encouraged to transform their private gardens into mini-allotments.
Dig for Charity promotes growing your own vegetables and herbs , encouraging people to eat more healthy food, it's environmentally friendly and, in this current economic climate, an excellent way of saving money - and at the same helps raise funds for a good cause.
